About Chris Hardwick
Founder and Managing Directorchris@cashinthegarage.com
Following a long career running companies manufacturing and distributing to the construction industry, I was looking for a lifestyle change, something less stressful, and that I actually enjoy.
In 2004, I decided to build on my lifelong interest in cars and establish a way of earning a living in the lucrative and massive car industry. In this way “Carlton” was born.
I took over Cash in the Garage 2 years ago to give sellers who we do not manage to reach by responding to their adverts, the ability to offer us their cars directly
I worked completely on my own for 5 years but Carlton now comprised a small, dedicated team giving an unique service to aspiring car sellers.
My ethos has always to be totally fair to customers and to honour any offers that we have made to them. Yes, if a seller has completely misrepresented their car to us, for example saying that the tyres are nearly new when they are almost illegal, we have to sort the cost implications out but we never quote an offer price and then do everything in our power to knock that price down as seems to be the norm with car buyers.
I should say that, having done a complete “step into the unknown” into the motor industry in my mid-50s, I’m now involved in an even bigger challenge and change of direction, promoting the company through the national press and getting involved again after many years away from it in training and mentoring people in sales.
